IMP - Internet Marketing Policy ...

When marketing ANYTHING on the Internet, there are some basics that you should always follow. A lot of people forget that, not only are you marketing a ‘product’ or ‘service,’ you are marketing YOURSELF as well. This is where ‘branding’ comes into play.

Ok – The Internet Marketing Policy 'Rules’ are as follows …

T = TRUST - Your future customers have to have trust in you, that what you are selling/promoting, ISN’T going to backfire on them if they choose you to follow your guidance. ALWAYS encourage that trust and NEVER let your customers down.

H = HONESTY – Honesty has always been, and will forever be, the BEST Policy. Dishonest marketers come and go. Yes, they may get a few sales, but YOU are here for the long journey, Correct? If so, you MUST be honest in your Marketing. If you aren’t an honest marketer, sooner or later it will come back and bite you on the ass, and all of your previous hard work will go down the gurgler in a BIG way, and so will your profits.

E = ETHICAL – Being ethical goes hand in hand with being honest. This is the HARDEST task for most Internet Marketers to get their head around. How often have you seen ads promoting ‘free’ downloads and/or products, only to find that you have to PURCHASE something first to get them? That, my friends, is Unethical advertising, but all of the big names do it and they can’t see what they are doing wrong. These ‘extras’ are BONUSES, and NOT free products! If YOU tell people upfront, that extras will be included if they purchase, YOU have advertised correctly and have not misled them.

R = RESPECT – Always avoid using phrases like, “You must be crazy if you don’t take up my offer,” or “If you can’t afford a measly $5 to join, you shouldn’t be here.” Your customers are neither ‘crazy’ or ‘broke,’ but they ARE cautious, and the LAST thing they need from you, is to be insulted by comments like those previously listed. This is a ‘win friends and influence people’ Internet, so you NEED to show respect to the people who are about to open their wallets and use their credit cards to participate in what you are offering. It’s a case of, “Don’t bite the hand that’s going to feed you.”

A = ACTION – You must always be in a position to action any/all requests from your potential customers. If you leave them ‘up in the air’ by not responding in a timely manner, you have LOST them, not only for your current promotion, but FOREVER! Ensure you have systems in place to always assist where possible and answer their concerns/enquiries.

P = PLAN – You MUST have a Marketing Plan in place, and make this plan a workable one. Your Sales Letter, whether it be on a website, contained in a Safelist posting or an Ezine Ad, MUST do three things. Explain the product/service positively, explain the benefits to the reader, request that they take action and join/purchase. Notice I said ‘request?’ A BIG mistake made in Internet Marketing, is DEMANDING people take action. WRONG MOVE! How do YOU react when people DEMAND you do something? You either get upset, ignore them or get angry. These are ALL negative reactions and you are looking for a POSITIVE reaction. The use of the words ‘please’ and ‘thankyou’ have gone missing in Internet Marketing circles. Help me bring them back into popularity and YOU will see YOUR results increase.

Y = YOU – I mentioned at the beginning, that you are not only selling a product and/or service, you are in fact, selling yourself. The reader and potential customer has to ‘connect’ with you, so be YOU and NOT some slick salesman using tricky strategies. People are smarter than most Internet marketers give them credit for. They can see through the shite that is being presented to them and will react accordingly, which usually means THAT marketer has closed and locked the door on any potential business that he/she was hoping to do with that person.

SUMMARY:

OK, this might look familiar to you, but it holds true in Internet Marketing, JUST as much as it holds true in life.

“Market to others, as you would have them
market to you!”

Internet Marketing ISN’T all that hard. In fact, if you look above at the points that I have made, you will agree that Internet Marketing can be great ...

T – H – E – R – A – P – Y

I wish you MANY happy and profitable Marketing experiences.
